Opex Agro’s chemical and fertilizer repacking plant is located approximately 60 kilometers from Colombo in the rural settlement of ‘Hunumulla’ in the Gampaha district. The industrial site which encompasses almost 24 acres of land includes facilities for chemical and fertilizer repacking. The repacking is carried out through a semi-automated process that is backed by a skilled work force exceeding forty in number. The repacking process is carried out in accordance with quality standards laid down by ISO 9001 – 2000 / 2008. The said standards ensure that at each stage of the production process there is total commitment to ensure the high quality end product that reaches the customer. Similarly, there is also a conscious effort being made to adhere to the requirements of ISO 14001- 2005 whereby there is strict monitoring to ensure that all waste that emanate from the plant are free of toxic material that could pollute the environment.

Opex Agro, similar to other entities in the agro sector, comes under the scrutiny of regulatory bodies such as Registrar of Pesticides, Central Environmental Authority and the Medical Officer of Health. Meanwhile, the seed repacking division too will move to this site in the near future, making Hunumulla the self-contained operations and logistics cum warehousing centre of the group.

The chemicals and fertilizers once repacked are transported directly to the dealers or transferred to our regional stores. Our company’s network of storage warehouses which are strategically located in the agricultural hubs of Sri Lanka such as Nuwara Eliya, Bandarawela, Embilipitiya and Ampara. The products are then moved out from the stores to authorized Dealers and thereafter the farmers / agriculturists
